Benefit Kissy Missy Lip Kit - First Impressions.

Image
Hi peeps!!  So it's now Christmas Eve and I just can't get my head around the fact that it is this date of the year!! I apologise for the lack of posts recently but here we are in this new post. I hope you're all getting really excited for Christmas Day tomorrow as I know that I am?! This year is so much more special for me and this is because Ciara is now in my life and she's the one precious little girl that I can love and spoil which excites me and makes me so happy. She's now 10 months old.  Anyway this post is actually about a new beauty product that I treated myself to, today. It's the new Benefit Kissy Missy Lip Kit. On first impressions, I feel that my opinions on it are mixed. I do hope that all of my opinions change as I get used to the products.    In the kit you get; 2 mini They're Real! Double the lip - revved up red. Pink Thrills.  2 mini Benetints which match the lipsticks.  I absolutely love the packaging that this kit comes in

Oscars, The Abbey House Hotel

Image
Hey peeps! So it's the 14th December already?! Christmas is looming by pretty quick and everything is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Today; me, my parents, sister and my niece met at The Abbey House Hotel, in the Oscars Restaurant/Bar for lunch.  For anyone who isn't local and is wondering where this place is then let me tell you a little about it. The Abbey House Hotel is located in a small town called Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria within the Lakea District Peninsula. It's a luxurious hotel with 14 acres of  landscaped grounds. It was originally built for the local shipyard, during the 1910s.  There was a good selection on the menu which was good for me. I'm sure if you have special dietery needs then they would easily be adaptable for you. I decided to go for the Beef Brisket in a Pitta Pocket that is served with vegetable crisps and salad. It does usually come with homemade pickle but as I was unsure of whether I'd like it or not, I asked for it to b

Vlogmas

Hey peeps!! How are you all doing? How's the festive season treating you so far? Good, I hope! If you are subscribed to my YouTube channel, you will have seen that I've been doing the vlogmas series on there.  This year I have decided to catch all of my footage using my mobile phone rather than using my camera and then having to upload onto my laptop to edit before publishing it on YouTube, so it's much easier doing it on my phone. I don't have to worry about taking my camera everywhere and can be a bit more discreet for when I'm out in public, ha ha! I've found some apps to do the editing for me which are 'InShot' which is free (if I remember rightly). This is fairly easy to navigate although pretty basic but it does what you need it to do.  There has been one or two vlogmas days where I've had to put together like two days worth of footage as I wasn't able to get enough footage but hopefully you'll understand this.  I think now t

A Day to Day Makeup Look

Image
Hey peeps!  So today I ended up with doing a 'day look' for my makeup as any plans that we may have had weren't finalised in time and we stayed in at home. I had a wonderful afternoon as my sister and baby niece came to visit 😍  I decided I wanted to create a natural look with my eyes so I used the Benefits COSMETICS Most Glamorous Nudes eye palette. The shades I used in this were; Birthday Suit, Call My Bluff,  0Its Complicated, Kiss Me I'm Tipsy and a little dab of Gilt-y Pleasures. My eyeliner that I used was Avon Kohl liner in the Black shade. Whether I wear eyeshadow or not, I always wear eyeliner. The rest of my makeup tends to be my typical look so I won't repeat myself from my last makeup blog post 😉 I did apply my new New Look lip liner with the New Look Americano lipstick. I do really like like the New Look range, especially for every day looks.  I'm sorry that I haven't gone into too much detail but as I said above, I don't wa

Perfect Winter Soup

Image
Hey peeps! I hope you all had a great weekend and that the start of the week has been positive for you?! Mine was alright and a little busy but surrounded by some of my lovely family, couldn't ask for anything better. Today I made some homemade soup which is perfect for the winter and is comforting. Obviously I had a little assistance but it was following my recipe. I feel like my soups improve every time I make them but I think it's good that they get better as it shows you're learning and gaining more experience. Ingredients; Approximately 1 cup full of diced carrots and swede. (Change the quantity to what you want it to be to suit your needs. It was only me that was eating the soup). 1 and a 1/2 tablespoons of mixed herbs. 1 teaspoon of ginger. 1 teaspoon of Asian salt and pepper mix (change according to your own taste). 1 stick of celery. Approximately 500ml of boiling water with 1 chicken stock portion. 2 cloves of garlic (change to your pref

Discovering what is IFTTT

Hi peeps!! So here I am trying to be more 'with it' referring to a modern way of living by adding the new IFTTT and here's me trying it out right now, yes now as we speak.  It's rather interesting to see how you can interlink all of your apps and discovering new ways of living for example stuff that's to do with your home or your work. I must say thank you to my whizz kid of a cousin, Lee who often educates me on new tech and offers his advice re: on my vlogs etc.  Anyway that's enough from me for now and I shall see you all soon xxx

Phone Holder Gadget

Image
Hey peeps!! Over the last few nights, I've been struggling to find a way to keep my phone the way I want it to be so I can watch videos on YouTube extra without it falling over every time I move position. Then last night, I had a brainwave and decided to have a look around for a arm bracket thing to clip onto my headboard. Much to my surprise I didn't have to search far for what I was looking for! In my local indoor market to be exact. In the photos below you can see the arm bracket gadget being used straight away when I got home. One end clips onto my headboard and the other holds the phone. You can manipulate the arm to whatever position you want it in that is best for you. I chose the black but you can get it in white, whichever you prefer and it only cost me £5. This will be brilliant for me! Especially on the nights where I struggle to get to sleep and I can't get out of bed so I'll be able to watch YouTube videos and anything on my other apps. L

What Is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome?? EDS!

Hi peeps! I have just realised that I haven't yet explained what EDS is so now is the time for me to do so. The information I'm about to tell you is generalised, as to cover as much as I can. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a varied group of heritable conditions of connective tissue, characterised by skin extensibility, joint Hypermobility and tissue fragility (nerves and muscles). There are various types of EDS which awe classified according to signs and symptoms. The syndrome is caused by a defect in a protein called collagen (you may have heard of collagen re; plastic surgery). It is the main part of the body providing strength and support; such as ligaments, tendons and cartilage. When the collagen is defective, it can induce problems throughout the body. EDS can affect both males and females. It is however, quite rare. To diagnose the syndrome, a skin biopsy (removal of a sample of tissue) as well as history and other factors, will help to confirm the diagnosis.

Black Kitty Socks!!

Image
Hey peeps!  I hope you all have had a fab weekend whether it was a quiet one in at home or out and about doing whatever. Mine has been fairly busy; Friday as you know I went to town. Saturday; me and my dad went to watch Barrow AFC (our local football team) which was heart wrenching at times but we won, 2-1 against Solihull. 👍🏼⚽️ Today which is Sunday; we went back into town. I bought a few more Christmas presents and bought myself a matching lipliner to go with my new 'Americano' lipstick. It was much more relaxed today and I prefer to go at my own pace.  Anyway, the main focus point I wanted to write about in today's post is about my new socks. Take a look in the photo below... Aren't they just the cutest?!! They're little black cats and they actually have 3D ears which you may see if you take a very close look. My new boots go great with them in my opinion! (The boots are from Shoezone priced at £17.99 in the kids section.) the socks came with a few

New Look Haul

Image
Hey peeps!  So after feeling a little disappointed when I last made my visit to my local New Look store to discover that they no longer had the makeup range stand and later on at home, I decided to order a few products to pick up in store.  Today not only was I pleased that my order was in store ready for me to collect but also that they had a new makeup range stand which I was very happy about! Apparently they were just relaunching it; although their makeup range is still fairly new.  On previous visits to the store, I already bought some products which I really like and that's why I wanted to try out more of the range. Also you can't fault the prices!     These are the products that I ordered and picked up today. I just love them! I'm trying new shades like the Americano Matte Lipstick and I really glad I've given myself the chance to try it. It'll be perfect for those days where I want to be pretty dark but not quite as dark as black. The other l

A Productive Evening

Image
Hey peeps!  So it's Tuesday (although technically it's now Wednesday) here in the UK) and I cannot believe its midweek already!! I wasn't actually intending on blogging tonight but I felt inspired, so why not?! Tonight it's been a busy one for me; very productive for me 😀 I did some filming (an EE makeup how to video) for my YouTube channel. I sorted out my mum's customers Avon orders online and submitted them for her. I ate my tea whilst I watched Blue Bloods which is on every night here in the UK. What's Blue Bloods you ask? It's a family police drama starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlburg.  Then I edited the video and now I'm waiting for it to upload and finish the editing before I publish it. If you get to see it, I hope you enjoy watching it. Right now, I'm just relaxing until I sort that out.   I hope your day has been a positive one and I shall see you again soon xxx

Choosing The Glam Life!!

Hey peeps!  How are you all doing?? I saw this on Pinterest and just had to share it with all of you as I love it! It definitely suits me to a tee. 😊  Anyway just a short and sweet post from me today, keep smiling!! 💗 xxx

My Favourite Autumn/Winter Outfit

Image
Hey peeps!! So as a new thing which I'm hoping to continue to write about on this blog is about my style and what my go to looks are. I hope you enjoy and like what my style is, if not; then not to worry. I'm sure there'll be a style you do like. 😉 As we all know we are heading towards winter now that Autumn has arrived. For me, that means lots of cosy jumpers/cardigans and jeggings or wooly leggings with hats and faux fur collared coats. Now colour wise; it's all about burnt orange, burgundy, dark green and brown. However if you're like me; I adore burgundy and black in both clothes and makeup. Many of you will know by now that I'm a wheelchair user and that means for me that comfort and practicality is high up on my list. For example; wearing jeans and heavy clothing is not really the best of ideas as they take longer to dry... can you imagine how it feels to be sitting in wet clothes as they are harder to dry off? In some instances though, I have be

Body Shaming

Image
So it's 2016, Autumn/fall has landed and we're all starting to wear our comfy clothes yet I'm here thinking about body shaming. I can't get my head around at why it's still happening... It shouldn't be. I've been very fortunate that I haven't personally been body shamed too much (apart from the times I got called Twiggy, stick insect etc at school by one person), thankfully or maybe this is because I consciously point my 'selfie' camera at angles that capture me in my best angles? This should not be something I or anyone should be doing. We are who we are; whether we're short, tall, thin, curvy or if we have medical issues (yes some of us do have issues). Our beauty should be defined as how kind we are, the way we treat others, what our dreams/aspirations are and so on, not just on how we look. When you see celebrities getting body shamed in the media on whether they have their lips done, they have put on weight, lost too much weight or ev

Happy Halloween!! 🎃

Image
Hi peeps!!  Happy Halloween to you all!! Hope you have all had a great weekend celebrating this fun holiday?! I didn't go to any Halloween themed events, unfortunately. However; seeing as my niece was coming to do her trick or treating at my house and at her other grandparents house, I decided that I would dress up for her. I already had a skeleton dress from last year's Halloween so made my mind up to just wear that. Also I had a few decorations plus I bought a few more so we just placed them on the mantel piece. My dad even carved us a pumpkin out as well 🎃  My face I used some white face paint just lightly applying it. Using a mixture of green, orange and burgundy shades I applied those around my eyes building up like a deep bruising effect and lightly across my cheeks where you would normally contour and softly built up the black on top. I then used a new liquid eyeliner 'Rimmel' to draw the mouth line. I used just black on the tip of my nose making like a

Prettying Myself Up

Image
Hi peeps!  How are you all doing? Today I thought I would share how my makeup looked today here with you seeing as I've posted them on my Instagram and on Twitter 😊  Before I apply my makeup,  I always like to use my Simple Facial Miceller Water on my face followed by putting on my Simple Moisturiser. I also applied some Jeffree Star's velour lip scrub just to get rid of any dry skin on my lips.  For the base I used the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' foundation; blending it with my damp beauty blender. My favourite makeup tool ever! Then I used the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' concealer under the eyes, around bottom of my nose, chin. Again blending it with the beauty blender.  For the eyes, I used my new 'GOSH Cosmetics' 001 eye palette using four of the shades. I applied the lightest shade in the inner corners and ended with the third shade; blended it all with my big fluffy eye brush. To outline the eyes, I used Avon's black kohl pencil and I only applie

Starting Crafting Again

Hi peeps, How are ya all doing? I'm sorry it's been a few weeks since my last post, just had a bit going on in my life. There's been a few appointments, my cousin's wedding night do (she got married in Turkey) spending time with my sister and baby niece, and been resting as I've struggled with pain and fatigue. I can't believe it's September already! Can you believe that my niece was 7 months old yesterday, she's doing so well and she makes me a very proud auntie. If you follow my Instagram account or my Facebook page, you will see pics of me with her. I'll post links to them below or I  think you can click on the icon buttons along the side of this blog site. For the past few weeks, I've been looking for inspiration to create new cards etc. by browsing through craft magazines and on Pinterest. So as you can imagine, I have started making a few cards already. I will be making more including some very special ones which shall be revea

Starting At A New College/University?! Read on...

Hey peeps, Seeing as it is the time for starting at school, college and university; I thought it would be perfect timing for me to talk a little about my tips/advice for starting somewhere new; specifically a residential place. We all know how excited, scary and apprehensive it is when starting somewhere new hence why I'm doing this blog post. It was fifteen years ago when I first went to a residential college, I was just sixteen years old and it was my first proper time away from home besides my many hospital stays. The college I went to was Beaumont College and it is run by Scope. I was a student there for three years and I made memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. As it was residential and I was very lucky in having my own room, I was able to take whatever I wanted with me. I wanted to create a space that was my own and felt like home, so I had photo frames of my friends and family. I had posters up on the walls (the walls were bare!) and I also had my ow

My First Beauty Post

Image
Hey Peep, Yesterday I bought the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and decided I wanted to try it today. Many people I know have a 'Day' foundation and another one for special occasions which is usually more expensive. I recently started using my Make Up Forever foundation and it is soon going down. I love it! It doesn't smell funny and has a lovely coverage. It feels nice and light on my skin. It's also a good match for my skin which is important. Now this Rimmel one is great for just every day wear and I much rather spend £8 or £9 regularly than £40+ which I think the Make Up Forever costs. Here is my #motd look for today 😊 Hope you like it!   Rommel Wake Me Up Foundation - Ivory  Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealor - Ivory  Avon Cosmetics Glimmerstick Diamonds Eyeliner- Black Benefit Cosmetics Eyeshadow Pallette Worod Famous Neutrals - Most Glamorous Nudes Ever Kit - used Birthday Suit, Call My Bluff, Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy and It's Complicated.  Techn

Knowing Oneself's Worth

Hey peeps! I really need to be more consistent with my blogging and I truly wish I was. The main reason why I am not is because I struggle with fatigue. It's something that I'm coming to terms with but I know with my terrible sleeping pattern; this doesn't help matters! Right now, I'll give you a brief summary of what I've been up to since my last post. There's been birthdays (including my own), appointments, catching up with friends and spending quality time with my family... can you believe my niece is now six months old (today)? On personal matters, I have been trying to understand myself that bit more. Ever since I went to senior school, I have been plagued with having a lack of confidence and self esteem, and I want to change that. I know my self worth. I think anyone can understand when I say that some of it is in our own heads. We may experience difficult times that leave an after-affect on us; for example I always felt like I was awkward and

Dinky's Rambles!!

Hey peeps!  So, I thought I'd give you a little update on what's happening in my life lately as I sit here watching 21 Jump Street. Yes the movie with Channing Tatum in it! I remember when I went to see this at the cinema with a friend, and she was laughing so much at it. It does have its funny moments.  How have you been then peeps? I've been okay, trying to stay positive which hasn't been so easy if I'm honest. The osteoarthritis in my shoulder has been giving me grief with pains all over it even in my arm. One day when I got up out of bed, I couldn't move my arm at all and had to make do with just moving the lower part from below the elbow. Although thumbs up for managing to do my makeup even if it was just the basics. 👍🏻 Starting a month ago when my cousin took me to see Adam Lambert in Manchester and I was very lucky that I got to meet him which was amazing!! He looked so handsome and he was sweet. He loved my tshirt. We were told to handover any

All About Me

Hey peeps, As I have just been browsing briefly through all of my posts on this blog and I cannot believe that I've not even properly introduced myself to you my readers/subscribers. Now I think it's time to do just that, don't you agree? Let's start with the basics shall we 😀 I'm Katie and I'll be thirty-one in a few months time. I live in a small town, not too far from the Lakes District (Windemere, Coniston and so on...). I love it around here, I feel proud to say that I'm from here and it has pretty much what all the big cities have (just in small amounts). I only have one sister, Claire who's married to Leigh and has recently given birth to my niece, Ciara. She'll be one month old on the fifteenth!! I live with my parents, Sue and Ray. We're pretty much an average family but my family really are wonderful. They're always there when I need them. Also I our family, we have Pixie. She's our feisty, nervous and funny fur ba
