How I Created This Eye Look!!

Image
Hi everyone! I want to tell you how I created this eye makeup look on myself from last week. I think it looks really nice and quite natural which is great for every day style.  The products that I used are as follows; Rimmel UK - Pinkadilly Circus Eyeshadow Palette ‘Rosie for Autograph’ by Marks and Spencer - Cream Eyeshadow Stick GOSH COSMETICS - Forever Eyeshadow Stick Avon UK - True Colour Glimmersrick Eyeliner  Benefit Cosmetics - Bang BadGal Mascara  How I created this eye look . I started of by applying the the lightest shade which is a white colour all over the lid as a base.  Then using the light pink along the crease line and all over the lid. Starting from a third off the inner corner, I applied the slightly darker shade just along the lid.  Then with the darkest shade which is like a dark pinky/brown in the outer corner. This creates like a smokey eye effect. I didn’t think it was showing up as much as I hoped so I decided to apply some of the ‘Rosie’ Eyeshadow Stick in the

Please Support Me On My Journey

Hi everyone!! I’m Katie and I’m an avid user of social media. Whilst I enjoy using social media for personal use and keeping in contact with my loved ones, there is a message throughout that is important to me.  I have a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It is rarely known amongst medical professionals. Its sufferers are often not believed, and many spend years and years of misdiagnosis. Every day I live with chronic pain, discomfort and fatigue. I have various associated conditions because of EDS. EDS is a multi-systemic disorder that affects every part of the human body and its symptoms may vary from mild to life-threatening. There is no cure and it is progressive.  There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t talk about EDS; whether it’s how I’m feeling, my symptoms or sharing information about it. I do this by writing about it on my Facebook page, my blog and on my Twitter. I talk about it on my YouTube channel and mention it occasionally on my Instagram

Mini Beauty Haul - Benefit and The Body Shop

Image
Hi everyone! I have been meaning to write a new blog post all last week and this weekend but due to filming commitments, spending time with my family and resting; I haven’t been able to work on a new post.  So, on a trip into town at the weekend, I decided to treat myself to a few beauty products. I ended up splurging out more than I had intended! Oh well, it’s not often I spend the amount on makeup so thought ‘why not?!’ I bought some bags of chocolate to munch on as well which is something I do do on a regular basis.  Firstly, I bought myself the newly released ‘Bang BadGal Mascara’ by Benefit Cosmetics. I was debating to myself on whether to buy the full size at £21.50 or the mini size at £10.50. I decided to get the full size as I thought it would last me longer. I’ve heard good reviews about it and wanted to try it out myself. I recently been using Benefit’s ‘They’re Real!’ Mini mascara and I have been liking it a lot. It has been a while since I last bought a high end mascara and

Wednesday’s Daily Blog

Image
Hi everyone!! So as we are all aware, it’s Wednesday and there’s about an hour left of it. Today has been fun. As per usual, we had my niece for the day.  I got a lovely wake up call off Ciara late this morning who was wanting to see me. She climbs on to my bed and gives me a huge cuddle and kiss. I love it when she’s so excited to see me and it truly moves me. We have our usual auntie niece moment before she leaves to go back to the living room. I stay in bed for some time longer as I typically didn’t sleep very well last night.  My parents had got my niece dressed and my dad took her for a walk to the co-op. She walked to the corner of the fence that surrounds my bungalow and wanted to be put into her trolley as she didn’t like the coldness. It was very cute seeing her wave to us. While she’s gone, I sort myself out in the bathroon ready for her coming back. The next hour or so, I play with Ciara until we have our dinner. I just have a small dinner, I don’t eat much anyway but didn’t

Jamie Oliver’s Quick Homemade Ice Cream

Image
Hi everyone! I feel like I’m repeating myself when I say I can’t believe it’s the weekend already so I’m not!! In this post I want to show you something that I’ve made earlier this evening.  I’m thankful that my dad offered to help me when I said I wanted to make some homemade ice cream and we brought the ingredients last weekend ready.  These are the ingredients I bought; Photography curtesy of Asda.  For all the ingredients it cost me £4.55. They were easy to find in store. I chose to get smaller amounts as I didn’t want to make a huge batch to end up not liking it.  We used two thirds of the cherries, all of the yoghurt and a spoonful of honey. All we did was blitz the cherries and yoghurt in the blender, then add the honey. You may add more of the honey if it’s to your desired flavouring, honey is used to sweeten it.  Then poured the mixture into a Tupperware type of box and laid flat in the freezer for around two hours for it to harden up.  We have these cute little ice cream dish

Thursday Throwback!!

Image
Hi everyone! So we’re on to another week and soon weekend will be here. I hope your week is treating you kind.  In this post I thought I’d give a throwback to one of my visits to Amsterdam. I’ve been to the Netherlands three times over the last four years, my parents been four times with their first visit back when I was sixteen so seventeen years ago. I have problems going abroad on holiday so I feel I can manage just going to places that are around an hour long flight.  It was our first day there on our trip and we got caught in the downpour. I didn’t have anything waterproof and our hotel wasn’t right in the centre.  There was a little local general store near the hotel Amadi Panorama Hotel (which is where we stayed during this particular trip), they had the raincoats and rain hoods. I didn’t mind that they were intended for older people as I just wanted to stay dry! Plus the plastic actually insulated me so I stayed warmer, which is an added bonus for me.  As you can see, I was ver

Weekend Quotes For You!!

Hi everyone!! I hope your weekend is treating you all with kindness, rest and fun times. I’ve been having a much needed quiet weekend in at home so far but have to go out tomorrow as our kitchen is being decorated and need a few bits for the decorator.  Anyway, I wanted to post some quotes for you. I hope you like them.  This is just a short post from me and I shall see you all next time. Remember to keep being you, stay safe and take care of yourself ❤️xxx

What Is Osteoporosis?

Hi everyone! It’s me again, and I hope you’re doing okay?! As I work my hardest to raise awareness about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) across all of my social media platforms and it’s been a while since I went into detail about my health issues. So, I thought it might be a good idea to talk about my different health issues that are all down to the EDS. If you’re new to my blog and wondering what EDS is then scroll back to a previous post from around two years ago and you’ll see what it is. To put it in simple term, it’s a connective tissue disorder caused by a faulty collagen.  In this post, I thought I would talk about Osteoporosis. Growing up I had the odd stress fracture but we always put it down to the EDS. Although I can’t really recall in ever actually broken an actual bone. It was around the age of fifteen when I was referred to the (tba) team from Prof Galasko. Being thin is how I’ve always been and I was a late starter when it came to starting my periods. The team also referred

What Is Perniosis?

Hi everyone! It’s me again, and I hope you’re doing okay?! As I work my hardest to raise awareness about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) across all of my social media platforms and it’s been a while since I went into detail about my health issues. So, I thought it might be a good idea to talk about my different health issues that are all down to the EDS. If you’re new to my blog and wondering what EDS is then scroll back to a previous post from around two years ago and you’ll see what it is. To put it in simple term, it’s a connective tissue disorder caused by a faulty collagen.  In this post, I want to talk about Perniosis. I’ll tell you how it affects me and then some information about it. I started getting pain, discomfort and difficulty in putting pressure on my feet. This affected me more during certain weather conditions. At first I thought it was from a twisted ankle injury that I sustained previously so tried to rest it when I could and ignore it other times. I’d seen a GP about i

Happy 2nd Birthday To My Niece

Image
Hi everyone!! So today it’s my niece, Ciara’s second birthday and I’m just so excited for her! I can’t believe that she has been in my life for two years and I’m wondering where the time is going?!  It doesn’t feel like two minutes since I received a phone call off my mum telling me that my sister had gone into labour, now as much as I was excited I did feel a little anxious. This was a life changing experience, not just for my sister and my brother-in-law but also to both families. We already knew what gender the baby was going to be but I couldn’t wait to find out what the name was going to be. Now the name; there were a few little teething problems with pronouncing ‘Ciara’ as it’s the Irish spelling of Keira like Keira Knightley.  Ciara, my little love, you are the sunshine in all our lives. That’s your doting loving parents, your auntie, both sets of Grandparents, Great Grandparents and everyone else who holds you dear to their hearts. I love your personality as you bring me love,

Ten Random Facts About Me

Image
Hey everyone!! I wanted to do something a little different and perhaps a bit more fun for you to read than my usual posts. I’m going to write down a list of ten facts that not many would know about me.  1. I have social anxiety and this means I get really awkward in groups of people. Even with certain people I know, I struggle so it’s not easy.  2. I once got in trouble for bursting out laughing when the tutor was talking to the class at college. The member of staff who was helping me had dozed off and suddenly snorted which made me jump hence why I burst out laughing. I felt so embarrassed as everyone turned to look at me. What made it worse, she did it again so I struggled to stop laughing.  3. I had driving lessons when I was 17/18. The car had mobility adaptions. 4. My favourite childhood book series is the Malory Towers by Enid Blyton.  5. Once after I had a Hydrotherapy session at the hospital, I was getting into my wheelchair and my elbow had dislocated. I ended up going to surg

What’s A Fandom?

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing okay and enjoying the beginning of 2018?? I can’t believe it’s almost the end of January. Anyway in this post, I want to talk about ‘Fandoms’. For those that don’t know what it is... it’s where say a community of fans whether it being a band, artist, film etc and they kind of group together like a family as such.  Many people think that fandoms are full off crazy, sad and immature people But I disagree. For me, being a part of a fandom has been positive. Yes, there are some crazies out there but you get this in every fandom. I will admit that I am a part of the Backstreet Boys (BSB) fandom and I am glad.  I found myself in this fandom in around 2013 and 2014 during a time where I felt lost, alone and at my lowest. I had been hospitalised twice with a five week space in between so I was on the road to recovery and building myself up again. Without going into too much detail, I started meeting people online who were also fans of the Backstreet Boys. I f

What I’ve Been Watching On TV

Hi everyone! How are you all? I hope your week has been kind to you. My week has been okay, still coughing and feeling tired but I’m much better than I was last week.  As I’ve been laid in bed, it’s given me a chance to watch the things I enjoy on the television. Normally I just watch whatever my mum chooses as I’ll just happily go and watch YouTube videos, if she puts something I’m not keen on.  I’m going to list what I have been watching and they do vary in what they are. I haven’t listed them in chronical order as I couldn’t choose which were my favourites.  1. Coronation Street 2. America’s Next Top Model 3. Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals 4. Emmerdale 5. The Menendez Murders 6. Stacey Dooley Investigates 7. Jamie’s and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast 8. Cruising With Jane McDonald 9. Brunel: The Man Who Built Britain  10. 30 Inches Tall and Turning 18 Now I know some of the programmes may not interest most people my age but I’m a bit of an oldie at heart. I have grown up watching Corrie and Em

My Time Off Social Media

Image
Hi everyone!! You may have wondered where I have been and why I’ve not written a new blog post since 2nd January so here I am to try and explain to you.  On the eve of NYE, I started having a dry throat so I tried to drink as much as I can to help ease it but never thought too much of it. I thought it might be because I’ve spent some time in and out of hot dry buildings and the outside.  Anyway on NYE, I started to feel a little worse for wear when me and my parents went to Asda (my local supermarket). Whilst there, I took some pain relief and as soon as I got home; had a lie down on my bed for about three quarters of an hour. I felt a bit more with it afterwards and managed to get ready for going out to celebrate the NYE with my family. By the end of the night, my symptoms started again and I was ready to go home. I felt proud of myself for staying out and making the most of the rare night out. As per usual we walked our way back home (well I was pushed in my chair) as it’s too diffic

Welcome to 2018!!

Hi everyone!!  Happy New Year to one and all!! I truly hope that this new year is going to be kind, fun and healthy for all of us. I don’t know about you but 2017 was a mixture of highs and lows for me. The highs were my niece’s first birthday, my mum’s big birthday, my dads birthday , my sister’s and of course my own birthday. There were the shows and musical events that I went to; Aljaz and Janette’s Remembering Fred Tour and Giovanni Pernice’s Tour, not forgetting the 90’s featuring 5ive and The Pop Festival which had Atomic Kitten, A1, Kevin Simm and Katie Price. Despite my anxieties, we went to Amsterdam for four nights with my parents. I worked hard on my blog, my YouTube channel and my main site; Dinkykts EDS Diaries Facebook page. I won’t go into detail about the not so good in 2017.  I hope to be a more sociable person as due to health reasons, I didn’t see my friends as much as I would have liked. It is definitely harder for me to get to places and for me to feel up to going
